Olive 05:06
A leaf under glass in the dark museum quiet a cocoon of dimness a circle of light opens beneath my feet and I am a pool of skirts a puddle of cotton: For how, how, how, how, how can science tell... The two thousand year old story of a dark haired, olive skinned maiden who lay under the lattice light of leaves and harvested the fruits? But it couldn't tell your body to stop eating itself away. And mum, mum, mum, mum, mum what should I do? When the storm of a terrible day breaks I want a pool of translucent thoughts watery-green cool swimming with shimmering fishes. I want the breeze to kiss the walls of my mind papered with all the best pieces of you But I don't want the piece, I want the whole.

Violet 05:09
Here where the earth collects the rain Am I salty or sour, Pickled or brined? There, take a scalpel to my womb And I spill like caviar Tumble and sink into the season. I have always wanted A garden that fills each year With deep green, creeping violet leaves. Here wrapped up in a paper gown My clothes a perfect folded square, White webs of tissue dancing on a screen There beneath the cold, cold jelly slides The lump in my breast Is it something, or simply nothing at all? I used to think I wanted Not just the garden But to sow my stories in a child's breast - In the waiting room the clocks are holding their breath. If like Sappho the smallest fragments of my life are found, How will I be rebuilt again? Reassembled word by word? In the waiting room the clocks are holding their breath. - Here within your arms I am a flower Pressed between the pages of a book, A leaf within a leaf All my colours safe within your heart My story pinned Firmly to your chest So rake cool damp soil across my belly Let me return each year To wander freely on your breath.
